Ruben Retires - Je'Kel Foster (pictured left: 11.6.2011) & and Bayern Munich moved to 5-3 in German League after downing Ludwigsburg at home by a score of 61-55. Perhaps the most memorable moment of this game was prior to tip-off when Bayern center Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje announced his retirement (due to heart issues - link), concluding an 11 year professional career. The former Georgetown Hoya played two seasons for the Portland Trailblazers before continuing his career overseas. Boumtje and former Buckeye Je'Kel Foster were teammates in Oldenburg for two seasons, both members of the 2009 German League Championship squad. The two players were reunited in the 2011 fall pre-season period when Bayern signed the veteran center for front-court depth.
Web: American Basketball website RealGM.com posted an interview with Je'Kel Foster on November 8. Included in the interview is Foster's thoughts on NBA players going overseas because of the labor situation, how life is in Munich Germany, and adjusting to international basketball in general.
