11.30.2010 - Memphis Grizzlies 98 Los Angeles Lakers 96
-Mike Conley Jr. 28 points, 10-13 from the field, 4 of 5 threes!
Be more assertive, check. Be more vocal, check. Get to the rim more, check. Hit the open jumper more often, check. All questions or statements of doubt that have been answered with authority.
We are now two months into the NBA season, if you do not know that Mike Conley Jr. has been balling, that's ok..it is why we are here (lol), but for one to imply anything other than a breakout season so far means they have not been watching.
Mike is scoring a career best 15 points per game to go with seven assists, and currently ranks 2nd in the NBA in total steals. Conley played well last season, but the national audience rarely got a chance to view Memphis in action.
He is probably getting more attention this season due to his contract extension, but secondly and more importantly, it has been evident in his play that Mike is bringing what he brought last season with an even more aggressive mindset in running the team and scoring.
Conley & the Grizzlies played host to the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers on November 30. The major story lines heading into these games are always Gasol vs Gasol, Kobe Bryant, and maybe the scoring of Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo, but at the end of this game, the story was Mike Conley Jr.
Two quick threes in the first quarter would get #11 going. And if you are Laker's point guards Derrick Fisher/Steve Blake and Mike Conley is hitting threes, you are in trouble because the former Buckeye is going hard to the rim in 2010/2011..and that is what occurred..again & again. And when Mike was not getting to the rim against L.A, his jumper remained true to tune of 4 threes out of five attempts, and 10 of 13 from the field to make a season high of 28 points..and a W for the Grizz.
