Taking No Prisoners In Twenty-Ten: Redd, Foster & Reese Open The New Year With Buckets.
1/2/2010 - EWE Baskets Oldenburg 78 Brose Baskets Bamberg 67
2010 should be a productive year if the opening weekend was any indication. It all started on mid-day (or evening in Central European time) of Saturday, January 2nd when Je'Kel Foster & Oldenburg matched up against Brose Baskets of Bamberg, Germany in BBL play. Brose is a solid club that includes Americans Casey Jacobsen & former Dayton guard Brian Roberts. This same club currently sits atop of Group H in the Eurocup competition (regarded as the 2nd highest level of European play, which leads you to believe that Bamberg should be better than their 9-8 Bundesliga record). They were able to draw a split in two games with CEZ Nymburk in Eurocup. Ron Lewis was not able to go off vs Brose, but another Buckeye did on January 2nd. #8 Je'Kel Foster opened the year with a season high 27 points to lead EWE Baskets past Brose in Bamberg. He made five three pointers & added 7 rebounds, 3 assists. This win was extremely satisfying for an Oldenburg squad that dropped a couple German League games in late December. The defending champions are currently 11-5 & sit at 3rd place in the BBL standings.
1/2/2010 - AZS Koszalin 87 Polpharma 66
George Reese's 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists helped AZS Koszalin upset the third place club in the Polish PLK, Polpharma. G-Money's efforts pushed Koszalin above .500 with an 8-7 record, good for 6th place in the PLK standings.
Next Game - 1/9/2010: AZS Koszalin (8-7) vs SKK Kotwica (4-11)
1/2/2010 - Milwaukee Bucks 103 Oklahoma City Thunder 97 Overtime
Redd Hot in the Clutch - Later that night back in the States, Micheal Redd & Milwaukee enjoyed a much needed victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. #22 led the Bucks with 27 points & 7 rebounds. Down 74-71 in the fourth quarter, Redd hit consecutive threes to give Milwaukee a lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. Stud Kevin Durant's 31 pints helped push the contest to overtime. But two more Redd jumpers in the extra period to go with a clutch steal at the 15 second mark sealed the deal for Milwaukee (13-18).
