The start of a new year is always home to frequent player movement around the world. 2010 opened with huge international news when Greek powerhouse Olympiacos announced the signing of veteran pro Scoonie Penn. The former Ohio State guard played his first part of the season in Italy with Bologna, but his absence in their last couple of games led us to believe that he was recovering from an injury. But it turns out out Penn was exactly what Olympiacos was looking for after dropping former NBA player Von Wafer.
Penn returns to Greece as a known commodity due to his 2006/2007 stint with the Reds (Olympiacos fan nickname). This time he will join a star studded cast of players including Josh Childress, Big Sofo, Linas Kleiza, & Ioannis Bourusis.
Olympiacos is currently 9-1 in the Greek League & 6-2 in Euroleague play. They face one of Penn's former teams Efes Pilsen of Turkey in a Euroleague battle on January 7th. Penn joins fellow Buckeye Je'Kel Foster in the prestigious Euroleague, and will see Jamar Butler when Olympiacos plays Larissa in the Greek League.
